The work of award-winning filmmaker/storyteller, J.J. Adler, has been noted for its sense of humor and odd, awkward moments of humanity.
„Unattached,“ Adler’s short documentary that explores the contemporary world of orthodox New York Jews in the midst of a relationship „crisis,“ won a Student Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was also awarded a jury prize at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. And Adler’s M.F.A. thesis, „New Media,“ a short, dark comedy about a desperate dentist/inventor who takes a very amateurish stab at creating a „viral video“ for her new product „Snore No More,“ was selected to premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and won „Best Short“ at the Hamptons International Film Festival.
Since graduating, Adler has been Director/Co-Executive Producer for the ONION News Network, airing on IFC. Adler, able and eager to find the humor in anything and everything, helped shape the Peabody Award-winning network?s insightful, topical and often very politically incorrect humor, with such segments as: „VH1 Reality Show Bus Crashes In California Causing Major Slut Spill,“ „NASA Scientists Plan To Approach Girl By 2018,“ and „Boy’s Tragic Death Could Have Happened To Any Family With 20-Foot Pet Python.“
